Operator: Alpha SELF. Privacy contact: privacy@alphaself.eu.
This policy explains what cookies are, what we use on Alpha SELF.eu and how you can change your choice.
1. Short version
Alpha SELF uses:
- necessary cookies, without which the site cannot work properly;
- preference cookies, to remember language or choices;
- analytics, only if you agree, to understand which pages help young people;
- marketing/campaign cookies, only if you agree, to promote the project;
- local storage where useful for tests, sessions or preferences.
You can accept, reject or customise non-essential cookies here: /en/cookies/.
2. What cookies are
Cookies are small files saved in your browser. They can help a site recognise you, remember preferences, keep you logged in or measure how the site is used. Similar technologies: local storage, session storage, pixels, SDKs, session identifiers, analytics tags.
3. Why we use cookies
For authentication, security, fraud and spam prevention, remembering preferences, saving cookie consent, measuring performance, improving the Alpha SELF test, aggregated reporting and promotional campaigns (only with consent).
4. Types of cookies
4.1. Strictly necessary
Essential for the site to function; they cannot be disabled from our consent centre. Examples: login session, CSRF protection, Cloudflare security, consent preference, load balancing, spam prevention, form protection.
4.2. Preferences
These remember your choices: selected language, selected county, dark/light preference, temporary form progress.
4.3. Analytics
These help us understand how the site is used: pages visited, time on page, CTA clicks, test abandonment rate, technical errors, counties with high interest (aggregated). Analytics is activated only after consent, except strictly necessary, anonymous measurement without identifiers.
4.4. Marketing and campaigns
These may measure campaign performance: UTM tracking, ad → test conversion, test → account conversion, remarketing (if used), event campaigns. Activated only with your consent.
4.5. External content
If we embed videos, maps, forms or social media, external providers may set cookies. Where possible, we load external content only after consent.
5. Cookie list (indicative)
| Name | Type | Duration |
|---|---|---|
as_session | necessary | session |
as_csrf | necessary | session |
as_cookie_consent | necessary | 6 months |
as_lang / as_locale | preferences | 12 months |
as_region | preferences | 12 months |

6. How to change your choices
You can change your choice at any time here: /en/cookies/. You must be able to accept all cookies, reject non-essential cookies, choose by category and withdraw consent as easily as you gave it.
7. Browser controls
You can delete or block cookies in your browser. If you block all cookies, some Alpha SELF features may not work correctly (login, tests, preference saving, form protection).
8. Cookies and young people
Because Alpha SELF is designed for young people, we do not use misleading wording. The banner is clear: “Accept” and “Reject” buttons are equally visible, analytics and marketing are not pre-selected, explanations are short and settings are easy to change.
9. Third parties that may set cookies
Depending on implementation: Cloudflare (security and infrastructure), email provider Resend, analytics provider not currently used, video provider not currently used, marketing provider not currently used, consent platform Alpha SELF Consent.
10. Changes
We may update this Cookie Policy when we change technology, providers or purposes.
